Composer Alex Huddleston (1989) received his BMus from Columbia College Chicago, class of 2012, where he studied with Marcos Balter, David Reminick, and Kenn Kumpf. He then went to Boston University, class of 2014, for his Masters degree studying with Joshua Fineberg, with additional studies with Steven Takasugi, Pierluigi Billone, and Martin Iddon. During his time there, he co-authored a lecture on Spectral Music with Trevor Baca delivered at Harvard University, April 2013. He has participated in many international music festivals, including SICPP, Composit, and Darmstadt. He also taught musicianship skills to undergraduate students of BU all 4 semesters of his degree. Upon completing his masters, he began his PhD. at the University at Buffalo, class of 2019, where he studies with David Felder. He has participated in workshops with the Mivos Quartet, the JACK Quartet, Ashot Sarkissjan of the Arditti Quartet, and ensemble Mise-En. Recently, he was announced the winner of the Mivos/Kanter String Quartet Composition Prize.
