Born in 1988 in Thun (Switzerland), Mariella Bachmann studied at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste ZHdK with Prof. Fabio Di Càsola, at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg i. Breisgau with Jörg Widmann, and recently at the Musik Akademie Basel where she completed her Master in contemporary music. Additional teachers during her studies were Ernesto Molinari, Shizuyo Oka, Olivier Vivares and Nina Janssen-Deinzer. Beside that, she worked with different composers such as Heinz Holliger, Isabel Mundry, Salvatore Sciarrino and Helmut Lachenmann. In 2015 Mariella received the Fritz Gerber Award, connected to the Lucerne Festival Academy. For performances in contemporary solo- and ensemble repertory she has been invited to important festivals like the Sommerliche Musiktage Hitzacker Internationales Musikfestival Heidelberger Frühling, Festival Zeiträume Basel and the Lucerne Festival.
