Lorenzo D'Erasmo studied Percussion Instruments with Andrea Pestalozza at the "G. Verdi" Conservatory of Milan; Since young age he gets interested in contemporary music, collaborating with various ensembles such as mdi ensemble Sentieri selvaggi and Divertimento Ensemble, playing in different contemporary music festivals and seasons such as MI.TO, Biennale di Venezia, Milanomusica Festival, Sound of wander, Mantova Chamber Music Festival, Sentieri Selvaggi season, Rondò Divertimento Ensemble, Orlèans Concours International De Piano, Fondazione Spinola Banna, and many others others. He worked with different musicians and composers such as: Beat Furrer, Emilio Pomarico, Simon Steen-Andersen, Unsuk Chin, Francesco Filidei, Sandro Gorli, Mauro Lanza, Chaya Czernowin, Robert HP Platz, Filippo Perocco, Stefano Gervasoni, Toshio Hosokawa, Yoichi Sugiyama. During 2013 and 2015 he recorded two albums with Divertimento ensemble for the label "Stradivarius" and in 2016 with "Limenmusic". In August 2015 he frequented the "IMD 47° Darmstadt Internationale Ferienkurse fur Neue Musik". He is really interested in the artistic relation between electronic music, visual art and installations, creating projects that links all theses artistic expressions. He founded together with the sound designer Jacopo Biffi the project MATER: project born with a particular focus on aumented material surfaces, electronically processed. In 2018, together with other musicians and electronic artists, he founded the project MONOC; a multidisciplinary collective based in Milan and formed by 6 performers, a video artist and a sound designer. The founding idea of the collective is to create new artistic projects starting from the union of four main elements: Music, Sound, Image, Object. As a first work, the collective elaborated a version of the composition by the minimalist composer Michael Gordon called "Timber" for 6 percussionist and create around it a live video installation. Galleries, expositive spaces and non-conventional spaces are places that really interest him, having the opportunity to perform in different art spaces like: Pirelli Hangar Bicocca, Fondazione Prada in Milano and many others. He is also interested in the study and research of percussion instruments from extra-eu musical traditions, with a particular focus on frame drums of Middle-Eastern tradition.
